Discovering and Exploring "Dances of Universal Peace"

Discovering & Exploring "Dances of Universal Peace"           I first learned about "Dances of Universal Peace" when I was studying at Unity Village and a classmate who was used to participating invited a group of us to attend and participate in "Dances."  They were being held in an area of Kansas City, MO so  we went there. I discovered circle dances which were accompanied by guitar etc. and chanted/sung in various languages.          We first walked the floor in a circle and then formed  a circle holding hands, palms up   on one  side and down on the other.  There were times we dropped  hands, formed a second  circle or did separate movements. The movements were taught as  as well as the chant/songs.   Everyone was involved and it turned out that "Dances" were  international, so no matter  where you were in the world, "Dances" were the same  songs and movements.              I espe

Seasons Of Christmases Past

SEASONS OF CHRISTMASES PAST                                   by Desiree de Angelise                                                 Memories begin with the fragrant pine scent of a real tree, strings of cranberries, popcorn and often hand-made paper chains as well as lights and ornaments.  It is interesting that while I only was thinking of the "dollhouse" Christmas, the one in San Francisco and Kansas City as I began writing this, so many more came to mind. As a very young child, about three, we lived in Northern California in a small house one house away from the Seahorns.  I don't remember much specifically about the Seahorns' Christmas; however I do remember their tree, decorations and their Catholic traditions.  Raymond, their son, was my playmate and we lived directly across from the City Park with its rose gardens, swings etc. and as I have written, Jay, was a special infuence in my life and gave me unconditional love. "A Sense Of Life"

Radiating Grace                                             "A Sense Of Life"                                             by Desiree de Angelise                                                                     I am offering my campus/community program created many years ago for you with its ideas to consider offering in your community or area Now. "A Sense Of Life" was a campus/community program which I created partially to bring together the campus and community which was very split at the time, and partially to have a group, a Steering Committee,  working together offering plans and solutions to what was happening in the community, including suicides, addictions etc.   In addition to those goals, since I had created "brown bag" programs at the campus, I also wanted to prove that with creative innovative ideas etc., grants and big funding was not necessary!    ASOL funding was requested to

"Things Take Longer than They Do"

Radiating Grace                                                     "Things Take Longer than They Do" When I was working in a "Mainstream Pilot Program" the comment "Things take longer than they do" came from the Administrator of the program. Upon hearing it, as a student of philosophy etc., I thought "What?" "How can that be? " However, after working with a federal grant, at a state university, and with that university itself, I decided that "Things take longer than they do" was a brilliant comment!  The red tape, expectations, and everything involved in a "pilot" program took much longer than was predicted or projected. I also discovered in my own life how true that comment was in many ways.  We had purchased a geodesic dome home connected to a small cabin type home and worked at putting the two together.  Contractors were often late and not

Aramaic and the Essenes

Radiating Grace                                                                Aramaic and the Essenes    In thinking about when I first heard of the Essenes, I realized that I don't actually remember!   Most likely it was many years ago when I attended Marie Refior's group and we discussed comments from Edgar Cayce, Ruth Montgomery, Eric Butterworth, "The Gospel of the Essenes" or ?   I do know, however,  that I was familiar enough with the Essenes to think of Unity Village, when I went there to study, as having been created in that image or at least influenced by it and their ideas.    I also remember that my first hearing of Aramaic (in this lifetime) was during a lengthy family stay in Duluth, Minnesota.  Before we left,  Marie, my teacher/mentor, had given me an Aramaic tape by Rocco Erico.  While there and in listening to that Aramaic tape, I was literal

RADIATING GRACE--Woodland, California Memories

" Radiating Grace "                                                         My "Teachers "       Blessed with so many "teachers" from all walks of life, it is difficult to choose which ones to share here, so  I will begin by sharing some of my amazing "teachers" in the Woodland, CA area.       I was blessed with a brilliant ballet teacher/dancer/choreographer, Earl Riggins, who passed along his love of dance and continued to dance himself in the area into his 80's.  Mr. Riggins had been in the original San Francisco Ballet Co. and I learned a lot not only about ballet, but also folk dance, which he taught,  tap etc.  His teaching method was the opposite from those around him--I never heard him shout at anyone!      Prior to joining the Riggins School of Ballet, I had had an experience with a woman who sat in a chair pounding out the tempo and shouting at her students as we learned "I'

"DEAR WORLD" AND IT'S CONNECTIONS

"RADIATING GRACE"--Blog # 4 "Dear World' and It's Connections by Desiree de Angelise" "Dear World" is one of my favorite musicals, which I discovered when I was working in a campus library, shortly after we moved from California to Wisconsin.  Jerry Herman, who wrote music for "Mame," "Hello, Dolly," and more recently, "La Cage..." wrote the music for "Dear World". He had discovered Giraudoux' "Madwoman"... when he was a student and acted in it and loved it. While "Dear World" was nothing like his other successes, he is quoted in the information in the cd, as saying, that "Dear World" is "one of his favorites." It is easy to see why given the "Madwoman" plot and his music, such as "One Person," "Dear World" and "Tomorrow Morning" alone.  He also created a complicated three-part harmony for the "Madwo
